Story
It’s hard to pick favorites, but the Eastern Bluebird is at the top of my list. I spent an entire spring (actually closer to four months) outside my North Carolina retreat trying to capture an image of this magical little guy.
Eastern Bluebirds aren’t elusive. They are plentiful and easily spotted throughout the East Coast of the United States, but they did not want their picture taken that particular spring. To celebrate the one auspicious day when I was finally able to capture a focused photo, I created Wonder.
Wonder shows the Eastern Bluebird in all stages of flight, from perched to full, open-winged soar, emerging from the painted word in the background.
I am very thankful for those frustrating spring months and for that beautiful bluebird. He taught me patience and showed me the beauty of stillness during a time when internally I was anything but still.
Hold tight to that wonder.
